Students will work with a grocery chain to develop, promote, and maintain robust product forecasting models. Students will also work with their faculty advisor and team of peers to:

Develop, promote, & maintain robust product forecasting models

Collaborate with key partners in sales, brand management, and finance to obtain consistent forecast inputs.

Own and facilitate monthly forecast consensus process, resulting in rolling demand plans

Systematically identify and work to reconcile discrepancies, and close gaps, among inputs on an ongoing basis.

Align forecasts to assist distribution centers in support of logistics.

Ensure successful execution of customer promotions through effective planning; leverage key customer event inputs.

Track weekly/monthly forecast errors; identify and report on root causes.

Company Overview

Students will work with a grocery chain on market basket analysis and use data mining techniques to uncover associations between purchased items. Students will identify combinations of items that customers buy together and highlight the relationships between items in a single purchase/basket. Students will contribute to conversations about pricing, promotions, assortment, and store/shelf layouts with the company and also provide insight to assist with prioritization of market opportunities.
