Frequently Asked Questions: Students

MGT 808 is the prerequisite for MGT 809 and must be completed prior to applying for a project within our Industry Capstone Program. MGT 808 (Fundamentals of Consulting) is a zero-credit (has a program fee attached to it) and introduces students to fundamental soft skills, work techniques and technologies employed by management consultants. Once a student has completed MGT 808 they are eligible to apply/register for MGT 809. MGT 809: Industry Capstone Program is where students actually work on an industry project with a team of their peers and faculty advisor. MGT 809 is a three credit course and students are expected to register/pay for this like any other three-credit course at Stevens. Students will learn how to facilitate meetings with different groups of stakeholders over the course of the project, manage client expectations, and apply their disciplinary and technical knowledge to the project.

All students who are interested in applying & registering for MGT 809 must first complete MGT 808. Only students with consulting or project management experience may be eligible to waive this course. Please email businessprojects@stevens.edu  for more information.

MGT 809: Industry Capstone Program is exclusively for graduate students in the School of Business and is typically offered during the fall, spring, and summer terms. Students who are interested in registering for MGT 809 must first apply for a specific project so that our team can accurately match students to projects that align with their area of study, experiences, and skill-set. Applications are typically sent out to students 4-6 weeks prior to the start of each term that the course is offered through our businessprojects@stevens.edu account.
